The lookup returns the record that Colombia's chambers of commerce consolidate in RUES (Registro Único Empresarial y Social): registered name and acronym, NIT with its verification digit, the chamber it is registered with, registration number and status, legal form, registration, renewal and cancellation dates, CIIU economic activities and the addresses on file. Useful for validating a supplier, a client or a counterparty before signing or disbursing.

01Where does this information come from?
From RUES (Registro Único Empresarial y Social), the registry consolidated by Colombia's chambers of commerce. Croma queries that source in real time and returns it structured.
02Is it free? Are there any limits?
Yes, it is free and needs no account. There is only a cap on lookups per hour from the same connection to prevent abuse, and one NIT per lookup. For volume, use the Croma API.
03Why does the NIT I entered not show up?
Because no entity matches that number exactly. Enter it without dots, dashes or the verification digit (for example 900654922). If you do not have the NIT, the Croma API can also search by company name.
04Does this replace a certificate of existence and legal representation?
No. It is an informational lookup to check a company quickly. For legal procedures you need the certificate issued by the chamber of commerce.
