From a name to the exact NIT

Searching RUES by name returns the list of entities whose registered name matches what you type, ten per page. Every match carries its NIT with the verification digit, the full registered name and acronym, the chamber of commerce it is registered with and that chamber's code, the commercial registration number and its status, the legal form, the registry category, the document type and the last year the registration was renewed. That is enough for a credit or legal team to tell namesakes and branches apart and keep the right NIT before disbursing, filing or serving notice.

  • Identity of each match

Registered name, acronym, NIT with its verification digit and commercial registration number for every entity on the list.

  • Chamber and status

Chamber of commerce with its code, registration status, legal form, category and last renewed year.

  • Paginated list

Total matches, the current page and a flag when the name is so common that the list gets trimmed.

Common questions

Where does this information come from?
From RUES (Registro Único Empresarial y Social), the registry consolidated by Colombia's chambers of commerce. Croma queries that source in real time and returns the matches structured.
Is it free? Are there any limits?
Yes, it is free and needs no account. Each lookup returns ten matches per page, and there is a cap on lookups per hour from the same connection to prevent abuse. For volume, use the Croma API.
Why does the company I am looking for not show up?
The search matches the name registered in RUES, not a brand or trading name. Type a distinctive word of the registered name and check the following pages. If the name is very common the list gets trimmed, so narrow the search.
I found the company, how do I see its full record?
Copy the NIT from the row and use it in the RUES lookup by NIT tool. That returns the full record: CIIU economic activities, addresses, legal representatives and reported figures.
