How credits work

Your plan gives you a credit balance each month, and every request draws from it. One request is one call to any endpoint, whatever the size of the answer.

Live lookup

Queries the source when you call it and answers with what it says right now. Judicial cases, company registries, vehicle records, background checks, web search and extraction.

Yes. You get 1,500 credits every month and no card is required. That covers 150 live lookups or 1,500 dataset requests. When you need more, Hobby gives you 20,000 credits for $20 USD a month, Standard gives you 100,000 for $99, Pro gives you 350,000 for $299 and Scale gives you 1,000,000 for $799. Above that there are contracts. Every plan reaches all 116 official sources and 330 endpoints in 8 countries from ChatGPT, Claude or the API. Yes, and it is free. Public agencies in every country get the Government plan: 100,000 credits a month with no card and no cost. Sign up on the console with a government email (.gov, .gob, .gub, .gouv, .go.jp or .mil) and the organization moves to it on its own. Agencies without a government domain can write to hi@usecroma.com.

A live lookup costs 10 credits. It queries the official source when you call it, for things like judicial cases, company registries, vehicle records, background checks, web search and extraction. A dataset request costs 1 credit. It answers in milliseconds from a copy of the whole source that Croma keeps up to date, for things like procurement, regulations, gazettes and case law. In the docs a dataset endpoint carries the Dataset pill in its guide and any endpoint without it is a live lookup.

No. Every plan is a monthly credit balance. When it runs out, requests answer 402 until the reset or until you upgrade from the console. Nothing is charged beyond the plan, so there is no surprise bill. If the plans do not cover your volume, a contract sets its own monthly number and is invoiced.

No. Your balance goes back to the plan's full amount on your plan's monthly date and whatever was left is not added. Contracts carry their own monthly number.

Per item. A batch of 10 live lookups spends 100 credits and a batch of 10 dataset requests spends 10. Results come back per item and one bad item never fails the whole batch.

No. A request that fails spends nothing and neither does a cached answer. Polling the status of an async job never spends credits.

Yes, on three endpoints. Web search and research allow 10 calls an hour and extract and generate allow 60 an hour on every plan. They protect the sources, not the wallet. A call spends one of its hourly slots and its credits.

On the console and on every response. The X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset headers carry the same number the console shows, so your code can slow down before it hits the ceiling.

Yes, from the console. Upgrades apply immediately and are prorated. Downgrades take effect at the end of the period. You can cancel any time from the billing portal and the organization moves to Free when the period ends.

By card through Stripe. Prices are in US dollars and taxes are added at checkout where they apply. Every payment comes with an invoice in the billing portal. Contracts are invoiced on their own terms.
