The New York registry of active entities

The search covers the active entities on file with the New York Department of State, Division of Corporations: about 4.3 million corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships and other entities, formed in New York or authorized to do business there. A Delaware company registered to operate in New York shows up with Delaware as its jurisdiction. Each result carries the DOS ID, the current name, the date the entity first filed, the county, the jurisdiction, the entity type, and the parties the filing names: the address for service of process, the chief executive, the registered agent and the principal executive office. Only active entities are listed: one that dissolves, merges or is revoked leaves the Department's list. Data is brought up to date every week.

No. The Department publishes active entities only. A company that dissolves, merges or is revoked leaves the list, and stops showing here after the next weekly update. For the history of an inactive entity, check with the Department of State directly.

Not directly. The search matches the entity's name. Each result lists the chief executive and the registered agent the filing names, but those names are not searched. To find companies a person runs, search by the company name and read the parties in each record.

A domestic entity was formed under New York law. A foreign one was formed in another state or country, such as Delaware, and is authorized to do business in New York. The jurisdiction field says where it was formed.
