What it shows

The national record behind a vehicle plate

SUTRAN (Superintendencia de Transporte Terrestre de Personas, Carga y Mercancías) supervises road transport across Peru, so its record does not depend on the municipality where the violation happened. The lookup returns whether the plate has infractions on record, how many rows there are, the report date, the total payable in soles and, for each row, the infraction document's number and type, the date it was issued, the infraction code and its classification (minor, serious or very serious). This is the check a company runs before contracting a freight carrier, adding a unit to its fleet or renewing a staff-transport contract. Note that the record does not include violations that have already moved into enforced collection.

FAQ

Common questions

01How is this different from municipal traffic tickets?
SUTRAN is the national road transport authority and supervises highways, passenger transport and freight. City traffic tickets are administered by each municipality: Lima's by SAT de Lima and Callao's by its provincial municipality.
02Does the record show everything the plate owes?
No. Violations that have already moved into enforced collection do not appear, and the total returned covers the documents listed. For a full picture of a vehicle, add the municipal lookup that applies.
03What does the classification mean?
It is how SUTRAN grades the violation: minor, serious or very serious. It drives the applicable penalty, and a very serious one on a freight or passenger unit is the signal that weighs most when assessing a carrier.
04Is it free? Are there any limits?
Yes, it is free and needs no account. There is only a cap on lookups per hour from the same connection to prevent abuse, and one plate per lookup. For volume, use the Croma API.
