The traffic account behind a plate or an ID

The lookup returns the account SIMIT (Sistema Integrado de Información sobre Multas y Sanciones por Infracciones de Tránsito) holds for that plate or that ID number. Every ticket and fine comes with its number, its current state, the plate, the traffic authority and department that issued it, the infraction date, the infraction code and description, the original amount and the amount payable today, plus the payment projections with the discounts that apply depending on when you pay. Below that sit the payment agreements, the driving courses and the totals: how much is owed and how many tickets are still unpaid. When nothing is outstanding the lookup says so directly, which is the Colombian paz y salvo. It is the check worth running before buying a used car, renewing SOAT insurance or accepting a vehicle as collateral.

Common questions

01Where does this information come from?
From SIMIT, the system that records Colombia's traffic fines and sanctions. Croma queries that source at the moment you search and returns it structured.
02Can I search by ID number as well as by plate?
Both work. Enter the plate to see what is attached to the vehicle, or the ID number to see what is attached to a person. The result tells you which of the two it matched, since a term can look like either.
03Is it free? Are there any limits?
Yes, it is free and needs no account. There is only a cap on lookups per hour from the same connection to prevent abuse, and one plate or ID per lookup. For fleets or whole portfolios, use the Croma API.
04Can I pay here, or does this count as a clearance certificate?
No. It is an informational lookup. Payment is made to the traffic authority that issued the ticket, and the official clearance certificate is issued by that same body.
