The labor certidão every contract asks for

The Certidão Negativa de Débitos Trabalhistas (CNDT) is the document with which the Tribunal Superior do Trabalho (TST) certifies whether a company has labor debts recognized by Brazil's labor courts and left unpaid. This lookup issues it at the time of the request for a CNPJ and returns the status: clear when there are no debts, debts when there are, or debts_secured when all of them are guaranteed or suspended, in which case the certificate has the same legal effect as a clear one. It also carries the certificate number, the date and time of issue, the validity, the registered name, the number of cases and every labor case with its number, court, region, body and debt condition, and optionally the official PDF. It is used in public tenders, supplier onboarding and credit operations to know whether the company meets its labor obligations.

  • Labor cases

Number of cases and each one with its number, court, region, body and whether the debt is secured.

Common questions

From the Tribunal Superior do Trabalho (TST), which issues the Certidão Negativa de Débitos Trabalhistas. Croma queries the official source at the time of the request and returns the certificate organized. It is an informational lookup: to present to third parties, the certificate the TST issues, which you can request as a PDF, is still the one that counts.

Yes, it is free and needs no account. There is only a cap on lookups per hour from the same connection to prevent abuse, and one CNPJ per lookup. Most lookups answer right away; some may take a few more seconds. For volume, use the Croma API.

clear: the TST has no labor debts recorded for that CNPJ and issues a negative certificate. debts: the company has outstanding labor debts and the certificate is positive. debts_secured: there are debts but all of them are secured or suspended, so the certificate is positive with the effect of a negative one, and has_clearance_effect flags it as true. The status_label field carries the exact wording from the TST.

This lookup is informational. To present it to a public entity or a counterparty, use the official PDF the TST issues, which you get by checking the option to include the PDF, and keep the certificate number and the validity date the lookup returns.
