The search covers the full body of tesis issued by Mexico's Supreme Court, over 300,000 criteria published in the Semanario Judicial de la Federación y su Gaceta since 1911, complete and kept up to date. Every match comes back in full: the rubro (the heading that states the criterion), the registro digital, whether it is jurisprudencia (binding) or a tesis aislada (persuasive only), the control key such as 1a./J. 2/2023 (11a.), the época, the instance and the court that issued it, the subjects (materias), its location in the Semanario (book, volume and page), the full text with its hechos, criterio jurídico and justificación sections, the precedents, how the criterion was formed, and the dates it was published and became binding. Narrow by chamber, by how the criterion was formed or by publication window, three cuts the Semanario does not let you combine, and every answer says how current the data is.

Common questions

What is the difference between jurisprudencia and a tesis aislada?
Jurisprudencia is binding on the courts the law designates; a tesis aislada states a criterion that persuades but does not bind. The tesis type filter lets you keep only one of the two, or see both.
Where do these tesis come from?
From Mexico's Supreme Court (SCJN), as published in the Semanario Judicial de la Federación y su Gaceta. Croma keeps the whole corpus complete, organized and up to date, and returns each criterion as separate fields, ready to cite.
Is it free? Are there any limits?
Yes, it is free and needs no account. There is only a cap on lookups per hour from the same connection to prevent abuse, and each page returns up to 50 criteria. For volume, use the Croma API.
Why does my search return nothing?
Usually because the filters are too tight. Drop the época, the subject, the court or the publication window and use fewer words: every word must appear in the rubro or the text of the tesis, and the search does not know synonyms. Two or three well-chosen terms work better than a whole sentence.
