What it shows

The RUC record behind the number

The lookup returns the record SUNAT keeps for that Registro Único de Contribuyentes number: registered name, trade name, taxpayer type, registration and activity start dates, taxpayer status (active, temporarily suspended or deregistered), domicile condition (habido, no hallado or no habido), tax address, CIIU economic activities, the payment vouchers it may issue, its emission and accounting systems, since when it is an electronic issuer, its PLE enrolment and the special registries it appears in. This is what you check before accepting an invoice, hiring a supplier or disbursing.

FAQ

Common questions

01Where does this information come from?
From SUNAT, Peru's tax and customs authority, which administers the RUC. Croma queries that source in real time and returns the record structured. It is an informational lookup: for formalities the ficha RUC issued by SUNAT is still the document you need.
02Is it free? Are there any limits?
Yes, it is free and needs no account. There is only a cap on lookups per hour from the same connection to prevent abuse, and one RUC per lookup. For volume, use the Croma API.
03What do taxpayer status and condition mean?
Status says whether the RUC is active, temporarily suspended or deregistered. Condition refers to the tax address: habido means SUNAT located it, no hallado that it was not found on its visits, and no habido that the address was also not regularized in time. Buying from a no habido taxpayer can cost you the VAT credit and the expense deduction.
04Why does the RUC I entered not show up?
Because no taxpayer matches that number. Enter all 11 digits with no spaces or dashes: individual RUCs start with 10, 15 or 17, and company RUCs with 20. If you do not have the RUC, you can reach the same record from a DNI or from the registered name.
