Unlike every other Croma tool, this one does not read a public register: it is a general web search. You type a query in plain language, 3 to 300 characters, and get up to 25 results, each with its link, title, author and publication date where the page declares them, the passages of text that answer the query, and a relevance score. That format is the whole point of the endpoint. An AI agent cannot answer with sources if it first has to interpret a results page; getting the passage and the URL already separated is what turns a search into a citation. To verify a company, a person or a court case, the official register always wins. Web search covers what no register holds: news, announcements, press history and context.

Common questions

01Does this read an official register?
No. It is a general search over public web pages. Croma's other tools do read official registers, each with its source named. If you need a registry fact, use that register's tool; web search is for news, press releases and context no register holds.
02What is it for inside an AI agent?
Giving it sources. A model answers better when it receives recent text with the link beside it, and here the passage and the URL arrive separated, ready to cite. That is the difference between an answer with a reference and one that sounds right and cannot be checked.
03How many results come back, and in what order?
Ten by default and up to 25 on request. They are ordered by relevance to your query, not by date, and each carries its score. If you want the most recent, say so in the query: put the period or the year in the text you search for.
04Is it free? Are there any limits?
Yes, it is free and needs no account. There is a cap on lookups per hour from the same connection to prevent abuse, and one query at a time. If you are wiring it into an agent or a product, use the Croma API.
