What the SIATA is

The SIATA is the early warning system of Medellín and the Valle de Aburrá, a project of the Área Metropolitana del Valle de Aburrá. It operates a network of stations that measure, in near real time, rain, air quality, the levels of rivers and streams and other weather variables, to anticipate risks in the region.

Croma queries the SIATA live and returns the region's environmental and weather conditions: readings of rain, air quality and river levels by station, useful for operational monitoring, logistics and risk management.

How fresh the data is

Croma queries the SIATA live at the moment of your search: the readings correspond to what the network's stations report at that moment, in near real time.

Coverage and limits

  • Covers Medellín and the municipalities of the Valle de Aburrá; it is not a national network.
  • Readings depend on the stations available: a station out of service or under maintenance may not report data.
  • These are near-real-time measurements, not official air quality certifications or long-term forecasts.
