Welcome, Bolivia: constitutional and supreme court case law

About 190,000 rulings from Bolivia's Constitutional Court since 1999 and its Supreme Court since 2001, with full text and the original document.

Bolivia is live on Croma, our seventh country. It arrives with the case law of its two high courts: the Tribunal Constitucional Plurinacional and the Tribunal Supremo de Justicia. Four new endpoints behind the key you already use, and every one is also an MCP tool, so an agent can call them without you writing a client.

Constitutional case law#

About 99,500 rulings of the Tribunal Constitucional Plurinacional and the Tribunal Constitucional before it, since 1999: sentencias, autos, declaraciones and the dissenting and concurring votes attached to them. Every ruling comes with its full text, the resolution number, the chamber, the constitutional action (amparo, libertad, inconstitucionalidad and the rest), the reporting justice, the department the case came from and its case numbers.

Search by kind of resolution, chamber, action, reporting justice, department, resolution or case number, year or date, or with free text that reaches into the body of every ruling.

Supreme Court case law#

About 90,700 autos supremos, sentencias and resoluciones of the Tribunal Supremo de Justicia's chambers since 2001: Civil, Penal, Social, Contenciosa y Contenciosa Administrativa and the Sala Plena. Each one comes with:

  • its full text, the resolution and case numbers, and the chamber,
  • the kind of resolution and how the court resolved (infundado, casa, anula and the rest),
  • the area of law, the department and the reporting justice,
  • the jurisprudence notes the court draws from many of them: descriptor, restrictor, ratio decidendi, maxim, summary and precedent.

Each chamber numbers its own resolutions from one every year, so AS/0001/2013 exists in ten chambers. Add chamber to a number search to narrow it; id always names one resolution.

The original document, every time#

We keep a copy of every document, byte for byte as the court served it. document_url points to that copy, so if a link moves or disappears at the source, the document is still there. For the Supreme Court, recent resolutions come as the scan of the signed original; the rest as the court's own PDF of the text.

An example#

Constitutional rulings in amparo cases that deal with due process:

curl https://api.croma.run/bo/tcp-bo/rulings-search/v1 \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $CROMA_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "query": "debido proceso",
    "type": "sentencia",
    "proceeding_type": "Acción de amparo"
  }'

Every result carries the id you pass to tcp-bo-ruling to read the full text a range at a time. Change the path to /bo/tsj-bo/rulings-search/v1 and send {"query": "nulidad de contrato", "chamber": "Sala Civil"} to find the Supreme Court's civil chamber on the same kind of question.

How current it is#

Both collections refresh every day, and every response carries as_of, the date the data is current to. The courts publish many rulings months or years after they are handed down, so every day we check each court's whole collection for what is new.

The full archive is loading this week: the most recent rulings already answer, and the rest back to 1999 and 2001 arrives over the next days.

Fields never carry the parties' names. The text stays as the courts published it.

The guides have every field: Tribunal Constitucional Plurinacional and Tribunal Supremo de Justicia. To call the endpoints from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, connect the MCP server.
