Every embargoed area with its responsible party and status

IBAMA, Brazil's federal environmental agency, embargoes areas and activities when it confirms an environmental infraction and publishes each termo de embargo with the individual or company responsible. This search covers every embargo IBAMA has imposed since 1987 and finds them by CNPJ, CPF, name or property, state, municipality, term number or date. Each result carries the embargo status (active, lifted or cancelled), the date it was imposed and, where applicable, the date, type and reason of the lifting, the responsible party with its document, the case number and the infraction notice number, the description of the infraction, the municipality, the property, the coordinates and the embargoed area in hectares. The response also says how many of the results are still active. Updated daily.

Common questions

From IBAMA, the Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renováveis, which publishes the list of embargoed areas with each termo de embargo. Croma answers from the dataset it keeps updated daily with the whole source and returns each embargo structured.

Yes, it is free and needs no account. There is only a cap on lookups per hour from the same connection to prevent abuse. For volume, or to screen an entire portfolio, use the Croma API.

Active means the embargo still stands. Lifted means IBAMA set it aside, and the result carries the date, type and reason of the lifting. Cancelled means the term was annulled. Lifted and cancelled embargoes still appear in the search, so filter by status if you only care about active ones; the active field tells you how many there are among the results.

Enter the CNPJ with its 14 digits, no dots or slashes, for example 12345678000190, or only its first 8 digits to cover every establishment of the company. A CPF is matched exactly and returned masked. If there are no results, no IBAMA embargo since 1987 matches that document: it is a definitive answer, not an error.
