This guide accompanies the workshop [The most AI-first lawyer's workflow](https://luma.com/estadox-pcke) of September 17, 2026. It lets you follow it step by step, at your own pace.

## Goal

By the end you will have a Claude or a ChatGPT that works with your real data. Today, ask it about a case number and it makes one up, or tells you it cannot know. Connected to Croma, it queries the Rama Judicial, the Consejo de Estado, the high courts, the commercial registry and the rest of the official sources, and answers with the fact and the date it looked it up.

The second half is your day to day: connecting that same Claude or ChatGPT to your email, your calendar and your Drive, so a lookup ends as a sent email, a scheduled hearing or a document saved in the case folder. All from the chat, with no portals and no code.

## The tools

Two connections are enough. Both are free to start, and both are added to Claude or ChatGPT from the same menu.

### Croma

Croma connects your AI tool to the data of the world's governments. Today, five countries: Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Brazil and the United States, with 160 lookups over official sources, 30 of them Colombian. You ask Claude or ChatGPT about a case number or a company and it answers with the information fetched from the official source, with its date. Nothing comes from the model's memory.

Check [the list of connections](https://docs.usecroma.com) and [the Colombian sources](/co/fuentes), or follow us on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/use_croma/) to keep up with new launches.

### Composio

Composio connects your AI tool to 1,500+ apps, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Docs, Slack and Notion among them, so it stops chatting and starts acting: it sends the email, creates the event, saves the file. Free to start, at [composio.dev](https://composio.dev/for-you).

## Step 1: create your Croma account

1. Go to [platform.usecroma.com/sign-up](https://platform.usecroma.com/sign-up) and create your account. It is free.
2. Open [platform.usecroma.com/mcp](https://platform.usecroma.com/mcp) and accept the terms.

## Step 2: connect Croma to Claude or ChatGPT

It works on Claude's free plan and on ChatGPT, and every prompt in this guide works the same on both.

**In Claude**, sign in and click this button:

[Add Croma to Claude](https://claude.ai/new?modal=add-custom-connector&connectorName=Croma%20%7C%20The%20API%20for%20government%20data&connectorUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.croma.run%2Fmcp#settings/customize-connectors "cta")

Claude opens with the connector already filled in. Click *Add*, then *Connect*, and sign in with your Croma account. The tools show up in every new chat.

If you would rather do it by hand, go to [Customize → Connectors](https://claude.ai/customize/connectors), click *+* and then *Add custom connector*, and paste these two values:

```text
Croma | The API for government data
```

```text
https://api.croma.run/mcp
```

**In ChatGPT**, open *Settings → Connectors*, add a custom connector with those same two values and sign in with Croma to authorize it. The exact steps for your plan are in [the ChatGPT guide](/mcp/chatgpt).

To confirm it is connected, open a new chat and ask:

```text
Look up NIT 900843898 in RUES and summarize the company
```

If it answers with Rappi's data, you are set.

## Step 3: five examples to start with

Five lookups that cover an ordinary working day for a lawyer: the case, the court, the counterparty, the case law and the norm. Each comes with the prompt to copy and paste into Claude or ChatGPT. Swap the example number for one of your own, a case number or a NIT you know.

The first time your AI tool uses a source it asks for permission; accept and let it work.

### 1. The case and its docket entries

A case number returns the parties, the court and the docket entries with their dates. Fifty case numbers fit in a single request, and a mistyped one does not spoil the rest.

**Prompt: one case**

```text
Look up case 05001310300120190012300 in the Rama Judicial and summarize the last five docket entries with their dates.
```

**Prompt: the whole portfolio**

```text
Check these case numbers and tell me which ones had docket entries in the last 30 days: [paste your list]
```

### 2. The court's email, from the case number

The first twelve digits of any case number are the code of the court that holds it. From the case number to the mailbox where the filing goes, in one lookup.

**Prompt: whom do I send the filing to**

```text
Give me the official email of the court handling case 05001310300120190012300, and the email of its case-files office.
```

### 3. The counterparty in one message

Commercial registry, financial statements, sanctions as a state contractor and court cases, cross-checked in a single question. This was the workshop's prompt.

**Prompt: due diligence**

```text
Before signing with NIT 900843898: check RUES, the financial statements and shareholders in Supersociedades, sanctions in SECOP and cases in the Rama Judicial. Give me a traffic light per item, with the source and date of every fact.
```

Four sources, one message, and every fact with its origin. With that NIT you will see an active registration, the last few years of financial statements, four contracts with the state and no sanctions, and the cases where it appears as a party. If there are no sanctions or cases, your AI tool says so: that is an answer too.

### 4. The case-law line

Close to 50,000 Corte Constitucional rulings since 1992, with full text and the rights protected as a field of their own. You search inside the ruling, not only by its number.

**Prompt: unification rulings by right**

```text
Search Corte Constitucional unification rulings on "mínimo vital" and summarize what each one decided and which rights it protected.
```

Today that is more than 300 unification rulings touching the mínimo vital, the most recent from May 2026. Ask for the five most recent, or filter by year, so the answer fits on the screen.

### 5. The norm in force and where it was published

Función Pública's Gestor Normativo keeps 40,000 norms since 1620 with the consolidated text and the later norms that amended or repealed them. The Diario Oficial confirms the date the norm was published.

**Prompt: status and publication**

```text
Look up Ley 1437 de 2011 in the Gestor Normativo, tell me which norms have amended it and in which Diario Oficial it was published, and confirm the date of that issue.
```

The answer brings the six later norms the register records against it, Decreto 1463 de 2022 among them, Diario Oficial 47.956 and its date, January 18, 2011, verified in the gazette itself.

## Everything else it can query

The five examples touch seven sources. These are the rest, with the tool Claude or ChatGPT uses for each. You do not need to name them: ask for the lookup in plain language, and add "check in Croma" if it answers from memory.

- **Registraduría**: whether a cédula is active or cancelled due to death. `registraduria_vital_status`
- **Supersociedades**: a company's financial statements and shareholders. `supersociedades_financial_statements`, `supersociedades_shareholders`

- **Rama Judicial directory**: courts by city and specialty, with their email. `rama_judicial_emails_search`
- **SAMAI**: administrative-jurisdiction cases and Consejo de Estado rulings. `samai_processes`, `samai_rulings_search`
- **Corte Suprema de Justicia**: more than 660,000 rulings since 1886, by chamber. `corte_suprema_rulings_search`

- **Fiscalía**: a criminal case by its number. `fiscalia_case`

## Step 4: connect your email, calendar and Drive with Composio

An answer that stays in the chat is only half useful. The result has to reach the partner by email, the hearing has to land in the calendar and the document in the case folder, without leaving Claude or ChatGPT.

For that we use Composio. With a single connection, your AI tool reaches Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Docs and the rest of your applications.

1. Create your free account at [dashboard.composio.dev](https://dashboard.composio.dev/login). Search for Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive and Google Docs and click *Connect* on each.
2. In Claude go to [Customize → Connectors](https://claude.ai/customize/connectors), click *+* and then *Add custom connector*, and paste these two values. In ChatGPT it is the same custom connector, from *Settings → Connectors*.
3. Click *Add*, then *Connect*, and authorize Composio in the browser.

```text
Composio
```

```text
https://connect.composio.dev/mcp
```

Back in the chat where you looked up the case, ask:

```text
Email partner@yourfirm.com a summary of the latest docket entries of case 05001310300120190012300, subject "Case updates", with the list of entries in the body.
```

```text
If those entries include a hearing with a date, create it in my Google Calendar with the case number in the title and the court's email in the description.
```

```text
Save the case-law line on "mínimo vital" as a Google Doc in my Drive, in the "Tutelas" folder, with the full citation of each ruling.
```

Your AI tool drafts the email, shows it to you and sends it. The event lands in your calendar with the case number in the title. The document appears in the folder. Official data, your judgment and the result in the tools you already use, in a single chat.
